Projects

Some of the projects below are in their initial stages of assessment and the subject of current funding proposals.

Elefsina / Eleusis - Greece

In collaboration with the Initiative for Heritage Conservancy.

The sanctuary for which this site is renowned, and the associated Eleusinian Mysteries, is understood to have been in use for some 2000 years from Mycenean times. The cult of Demeter is thought to have evolved from agrarian rituals to become of primary importance in Greek religion. The main site is surrounded by 20 small, satellite excavations which need linking to each other, through images and words, in a readily comprehensible and meaningful way to engage and interest not only those living and working in the vicinity, but also those travelling through from further afield.

Gonies-Philioremos - Crete

In collaboration with the Initiative for Heritage Conservancy.

Overshadowed by its Minoan Peak Sanctuary, the village of Gonies nestles in the verdant, rolling hills, which will appeal to the hikers and cyclists whom the villagers wish to attract to the area. Still practicing many C19th traditions, the villagers, many of whom are stone-masons, wish to promote the quality of their heritage, including the making of cheese, honey and olive oil, to bring them greater prosperity.

Montelabate - Italy

In collaboration with Stoddart & Malone

The abbey estates encompas an Etruscan settlement situated on the summit of Col di Marzo. The owners, the Gerolamo Gaslini Foundation, and the local government wish to promote heritage awareness and the unique discoveries being revealed at the site. The Abbey itself, with its rare double-teired cloister, seeks a sympathetic investor to enable it to expand its activities focused on the Benedictine phlosophy of "Ascoltare": to listen, not only with one's ears and brain, but also with mind and heart.

Kerkouane - Tunisia

One of many sites in Tunisia which deserve more appreciation both locally and internationally. Like many others, this fascinating archaeological site, dating from Phoenician times, is currently at risk. Raising the profile of these sites and attracting visitors who bring economic benefits, will encourage a grass-roots appreciation of their heritage and history.

San Giovanni in Tuba - Italy

San Giovanni in Tuba is a Mediaeval church, with strong Templar connections, built on an early Christian church, itself built over a spring. Remnants of buildings, a mosaic floor and frescoed chamber are revieled in the apse.  There are several sanctuaries located within a short distance. Their nature and finds suggest that the area in which the 40km long, subterranean Timavo river flows forth from the limestone cliffs, has been regarded as spiritually important since the Neolithic.
